Confucius China Studies Program (CCSP)

Congratulations to Andy Harding!
May 2016

Tinney Contemporary is pleased to announce that Andy Harding has been accepted into the Confucius Institute at Western Kentucky University's 2016 "Confucius China Studies Program (CCSP)." In a collaborative partnership with the 798 Art Zone, the Confucius Institute at WKU selected a limited number of artists, gallery owners, curators, and museum directors to participate in this program which is now in its 18th year.

The focus of the trip is to enable its participants to approach Chinese contemporary art for the first time. The emphasis of the project group is to learn about the current situation and characteristics of Chinese contemporary art, jointly research on its dynamic core, and compare the vitality of Chinese contemporary art with that of traditional art, as well as with that of Western art. It will promote communication and interaction between Eastern and Western contemporary art.

Congratulations to Andy on this esciting and well-deserved opportunity!

Divine Drips: A Review of Jane Braddock's Work
March 2016

We were honored to show Jane Braddock's Drip Paintings in our most recent show at the gallery and were pleased that Jane's influences - from South Asia and Hinduism to the written word - intrigued and inspired so many. In the words of BurnAway writer Elaine Slayton Akin, "the feminine parallel between Braddock and Shakti bestows a somewhat divine character over the exhibition" and made for a "visually stunning" show. Thank you, BurnAway, for this beautiful piece!
