The work of Tinney Contemporary artist, Kay Ruane, is currently featured in an exhibit at the Arkansas Art Center in Little Rock, Arkansas: "Face to Face: Artists' Self-Portraits from the Collection of Jackye and Curtis Finch, Jr." The exhibition runs through February 9th, 2014.

The article illuminates the techniques and inspirations that go into Gooden's large, abstract, multi-media pieces. Jones delves into individual pieces of Gooden's work, offering a deeper understanding of Gooden's art. "With Wings" is on view at Tinney Contemporary until November 16, 2013.

Tinney Contemporary artist Pam Longobardi recently won the prestigious Hudgens Prize, one of the largest awards in the U.S. to go to an individual visual artist. The competition drew more than 370 statewide applicants and the jurors agreed, "...We were ultimately won over by not only the dedication, but also promises and ramifications of Pam's ongoing, long-term work."

One of Belcher’s works the gallery plans to show at the fair features more than 12,000 individual cuts!"

Pam Longobardi Makes Her Mark on Venice, Austin, and Alaska
May 2013

Keep up with Pam Longobardi as she finishes her installation on the Island of St. Francis of the Desert in Venice, Italy as one of twelve site-specific works for the island. See her work in Venice from 6/1/2013 - 8/20/2013.

Next, Longobardi travels to Austin, TX as she competes as one of four finalists for the Hudgens Prize. 

Then, on June 7, the Gyre Expedition set sails from Seward, Alaska. The 14 member team of artists, scientists, and policy experts will travel along the upper Aleutian Islands, landing on remote beaches to collect, study, and make art from material encountered. The expedition will culminate in a major exhibition at the Anchorage Museum opening February 2014.

Oxenberg Fine Art Gallery writes: "James Croak (American, b. 1951) has produced an astonishing body of work during the past twenty years. Using a variety of innovative materials and techniques, incluing taxidermy, latex rubber, tar, and his trademark cast dirt, he has merged traditional craftsmanship witha twenty-first century sensibility, creating sculpture of pressence and feeling."

Atlanta-Based artist, Dorothy O'connor, will be continuing her installation and photography series, Scenes, at Cheekwood this spring as the Martin Schallenberger Artist in Residence. Consisting of fabricated sculptural installtions and live models, O'Connor's dramatically staged "living pictures" are captured as photographs and exhibited in the nearby Courtyard Gallery. The artist will be the first to use Cheekwod's newly renovated art studio and lounge. To visit and observe her work, open studio hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays  from 10 am – 2pm until April 4th. After the project's completion, the resulting exhibtion, titled Shelter, will open to the public from April 6th until June 30th at Cheekwood.

Arts at Nashville International Airport

Tinney Contemporary is pleased to announce Martica Griffin's latest exhibition. Griffin is currently showing as part of the Arts at the Nashville International Airport.

Griffin says: "I am thrilled to be part of the public art program conducted by the airport. Sweet Inspirations is a salute to Nashville’s longstanding, world famous musical heritage. With music as my constant companion and starting point, the works pay homage to the songs, singers and players by building on a sense of structure and flow combined with texture, color, line and mark. Take a look. Maybe you can hear them sing!"

Sweet Inspirations will run from March 7 – September 3 at the Southwest check-in ticketing lobby.
